Mechanical Engineering Internship


  • design and analyze structural components of aircraft
  • design and take ownership of subsystems of current and new vehicles
  • collaborate with other engineers and apply critical thinking
  • hands-on building of vehicles and working with technicians
  • test the systems you design (potentially also designing and building test stands)
  • purchase parts and work with manufacturers
  • run 3D printers and CNC machines
  • collect and analyze flight data to learn and iterate
  • apply first principles


  • Enrolled in an ABET certified university pursuing a BS or MS or PhD degree in mechanical, structural, or aerospace engineering
  • minimum GPA for major pursued 3.5/4.0
  • have completed the following courses: physics 1&2, statics 1&2 (beam mechanics), mechanical measurements, circuits, fluid systems, transonic flow / wing design, CAD projects
  • have a thorough grasp on first principles and Newtonian physics
  • design and analyze structural components of aircraft and ground systems + basic electrical system design
  • design and analyze aerodynamic properties of aircraft / size propellers and motors for various propulsion systems
  • experience with CAD (Solidworks, Catia, NX, Fusion360)
  • experience with FEA (Ansys or Nastran) or CFD (xfoil, AVL, Ansys)
  • familiar with technical drawings and GD&T
  • you want to work at a small early stage startup
  • you want to wear many hats
  • self starter and resilient: take a project from start to finish despite vague or little requirements
