What is Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity refers to variations in the human brain which influence socializing, learning, feeling and function differently than the neurotypical population. Neurodiversity promotes support-systems such as inclusion-focused services, accommodations, communication and assistive technologies, training and independent living support options for the neurodiverse population.

The Neurodiversity Foundation

The Neurodiversity Foundation is an initiative focused on providing additional help and guidance to neurodiverse people beyond necessary medical and health care assistance and in addition to existing treatment. Our initiatives help individuals develop additional life strategies to cope and succeed in life beyond limitations.

We strive to develop and provide support tools, inclusion-focused advice, social opportunities for happier and more successful independent living, beyond already established medical treatment and interventions for the affected people in Florida and across the U.S.

Our Vision is that the perception in the United States becomes more humane and inspiring kindness and respect for people from neurodiverse types who are provided opportunities to achieve full potential in all aspects of life.

Summer 2020 Internship

The 2020 Summer Internship is an 10-week internship program from June 1-August 12 (negotiable based on student/intern availability), with a possibility for extension in the fall depending on performance, and with possibility to grow into a paid position.

The foundation is looking for a summer intern who is interested and passionate about this topic. The suitable candidate would be well-versed in social media marketing and promotion, and have a general background in psychology, social work or counseling, understanding human behavior, understanding risk and resiliency components of the personal environmental social and cultural contexts, some knowledge of science-based treatments for individuals with ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD, PTSD, Dyslexia, and Tourette’s.

Job Responsibilities:

Marketing/Social Media and Branding

· Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns

· Under Foundation Leadership guidance, create and distribute content such as blog articles, newest news, on social media and traditional news outlets

· Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability

· Support content posting on major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snap and Google

· Track social media analytics including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance, and help spearhead strategies for growth

· Experience with photoshop or other digital editing application preferred.

Psychology

· Research support, support to program design and event management in areas of human behavior, applicable theory in treatment knowledge for science based treatments of neurodiverse populations, social networks, community resources support, appropriate therapies, individualized strategy interventions, comfortable and responsive to people with disabilities, ability to evidence personal awareness of strengths, limitations and biases, behaves ethically and adheres to professional standards of conduct, ability to document in detail professional events and activities.

Essential Functions

· Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously

· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of audiences

· Must take and pass a background check and reference verification

· Grooming and dress usually professional or light business casual

Format:

The Intern would work 15 hours a week on a schedule negotiable with the Foundation Director. Expected 2-3 hours of in-person interaction (depending on safety protocols and State laws on social distancing surrounding COVID-19) and the rest of the time would be virtual meeting and delivery.

· Please send cover letter explaining your interest, skills and passion for this field, and your aptitudes and qualifications in the areas of promotion, advertisement, social media as well as competencies in the field of psychology, two references (school and personal) and resume by May 20, 2020.

· Interviews will take place May 21-May 26, 2020 and the internship start is anticipated Monday June 1, 2020.
