This is a full-time internship scheduled from July - November 2020. This position is open to undergrad and grad students.

The Communications Intern leads daily employee communication channels including the FedEx Cares campaign that drives employee engagement and participation. This position will oversee internal communication channels and campaign efforts, including project management, written communications, event coordination and leadership alignment.

Primary Responsibilities
1.Attend all corporate conference calls and send out minutes to core team
2.Draft and send updates to all of FedEx Ground management
3.Work with communications team to coordinate events, budget, and promote events
4.Create talking points and other communications as needed
5.Develop digital signage
6.Update the FedEx Cares coordinator guide and job aids on SharePoint
7.Participate in planning meetings
8.Track metrics of materials and provide updates
9.Field questions and work with counterparts across departments to provide answers to employees

Preferred Qualifications:
1.Ability to learn quickly and handle project based on previous materials provided with new guidance from core team in Memphis
2.Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and Photoshop
3.Excellent communicator and writer

Essential Functions

  • Supports and plans work on small projects with direction from management.
  • Assists management and other department personnel to support larger projects (e.g., managing project schedule and status reporting).
  • May assume the duties normally performed in the department, alongside professionals who perform these roles.
  • Works with various departments and/or vendors to gather information needed for various projects.
  • Presents project results to management and/or department personnel.
  • Performs analytical work within the assigned functional area.
  • Conducts research using the internet and other sources of information.
  • Creates or updates systems or databases for specific department needs.

In some intern opportunities, the following may apply:
  • Prepare either preliminary architectural and civil drawings for facility site, building and office layouts, or system level material handling drawings using AutoCAD software.

Minimum Education

  • One (1) year of education at an accredited college, university or technical school (must be currently enrolled).
  • Paralegal Intern: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university paralegal or legal studies undergraduate program or paralegal certification program
  • Legal Intern/Summer Associate: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College/University law program, and have completed first year.

Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure

  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software may be required for some positions.
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals.
  • Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations.
