This intern role runs until August 31st. 40 hours per week, 10:30am-6:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY

The individual reports to the supervisor or manager of desktop support and assists desktop support technicians and occasionally desktop software engineers with daily tasks when necessary. May provides 1st level technical support to end-users with computer issues. Assists with new hardware unpacking and deployment as well as old hardware removal. Customer service focused individual with extensive personal knowledge of Microsoft Windows and interpersonal skills to help end-users with some desktop and minor hardware issues. Generates and maintains required written and electronic documentation.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Provides customer service to the user community. Responds to support requests via telephone, e-mail and in person.

2.Assist desktop support technicians in routine daily functions.

3.Remove new hardware from boxes.

4.Physically deploy new hardware from IS offices to users within Health System.

5.Set up (assemble) new hardware for users to include plug-in of computers, monitor, mouse, keyboard and other hardware as required.

6.Basic configuration changes to the Windows Desktop during hardware support or upgrade for the end-user. (map printers, adjust screen resolution, mouse sensitivity, etc.).

7.Remove old hardware and return to IS offices, after replacement of, for repair

8.Appropriately logs and documents support issues.

9.Works independently on assigned tasks

10.Assists with special projects related to computers or networking when assigned.

11.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned at direction of desktop team supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.Assist technical support team with routine daily functions.

2.Creates and maintains a log of potential issues with the imaging process.

3.Accurately inventories new hardware.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: •Minimally Required: High School Diploma.

Licensure/certification: •Minimally Required: Ongoing course work or completed degree/ certification in a technical area such as computers, computer support, networking, or Microsoft Windows® administration.

Abilities: •Minimally Required: High level user with extensive personal knowledge of standard computer hardware (monitor, CPU, mouse) and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems®. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
