Internship - Nursing Leadership - (00010321)

DESCRIPTION

Thank you for your interest in the Marquis Companies Nurse Leadership Internship Program. This program has been developed for individuals that have a desire to become a Geriatric Nurse in a Post-Acute Rehab or Community based setting and progress to leadership positions.

Marquis firmly believes it is strong leadership within our Nursing departments that keeps us successful. And, while leadership is easy to explain, leadership is not always easy to practice. Leadership is about behavior first, and skills second. The basis of Marquis’ philosophy is the respectful treatment of other people and it is the platform upon which everything else is built. Get the philosophy right and the foundation is strong. Throughout the Internship Program we will strive to identify and cultivate that philosophy along with the natural talents of our future leaders. This is achieved by exposing our Interns to experiential learning and mentoring.
Marquis believes that our Nurse leaders should be hands on and totally informed about each department’s functions. For a future Nurse to understand the day-to-day issues key Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) team members face, it is recommended that an Intern work side-by-side with IDT members in those departments.
Marquis takes the hands on aspects of training very seriously. It is through these experiences that a future nurse leader develops empathy for day-to-day problems and concerns.

As you will quickly discover, an 8-10 week Internship Program is not enough time to learn everything there is to know about Nursing opportunities in a Post-Acute Rehab facility or Community Based Care environment. The healthcare profession is ever changing. As more is learned about aging and the disease process, and as the needs and desires of consumers change, leaders will also need to change. The Marquis Companies Internship Program is only the first step on the path of lifelong learning as a Marquis family member. The internship is designed to be done in approximately 8-10 weeks, 8 weeks for those programs with shorter summer breaks. You will participate in modules and perform job duties in different departments that you are assigned to at a facility. There will also be written summaries to be completed after each module to reflect on your experiences.
