This position is responsible for reviewing and reconciling payroll files and reports timely and accurately and in compliance with all applicable institutional, TBR, Federal, and State regulations, policies, and guidelines. This position will provide support work in verifying financial information and bringing discrepancies to the Director’s attention.

Responsibilities:

Help make corrections to payroll posting to general ledger;

Reconcile Edison Collections and Applied Reports to payroll deductions;

Monitors and assists with monthly benefit vendor remittance and reconciliation of all payroll general ledger liability accounts;

Reconcile various accounts, bank statements, and other payroll transactions;

Prepares, analyzes, and reconciles institutional, Federal, State, and TBR required reporting, as well as ad hoc reports;

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

A willingness and passion to learn new hardware and software systems that are consistent with duties;

Ability to effectively analyze data and inquiries, think critically, and make appropriate decisions;

Ability to perform complex reasoning and analysis;

Effective organizational and time management skills;

Ability to work as part of a team or work alone without close supervision;

Strong interpersonal skills;

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally;

Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information;

Attention to detail and ability to recognize data that is out of the norm;

Ability to work on multiple tasks without distraction

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school degree/GED;

Related work experience;

Experience or training in Windows operating system and Microsoft applications, specifically MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in accounting, payroll, or finance;

Knowledge of payroll terminology, practices, and basic accounting theory and practice;

Ability to perform bank and general ledger account reconciliations
