As a Simulation Analyst / CAE Engineer at SmartUQ, you will support the Applications

Engineering team by investigating use cases for advanced analytics across a wide variety of

engineering fields with an initial focus on aerospace and turbine engines. As an essential part of

our research and customer outreach efforts, you will develop and run simulations to demonstrate

use cases and SmartUQ capabilities. You will work closely with the rest of the team to turn

conceptual applications of uncertainty quantification into demonstrable, robust use cases and

interact with Software Engineers and Data Scientists to identify practical, high impact

applications of SmartUQ’s statistical methodology.

Location:

You’ll find us near the UW-Madison campus on University Avenue next to the Hilldale

Shopping Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Use advanced simulation software packages such as ANSYS, COMSOL Multiphysics,
and MSC Adams or Nastran to perform a wide array of analyses including CFD,

Structural FEA, and Multibody Dynamics

  • Identify, create, and benchmark simulation modeling examples
  • Responsible for engineering aspects of consulting projects as assigned
  • Demonstrate our software solutions, both in person and remotely to customers
  • Actively support customers to ensure they are receiving optimal results in their complex
design challenges, and troubleshoot any issues they may have with implementation or use

of the software

  • Give technical presentations at events and adequately answer complex questions relating
to the software and its application, features, and capabilities.
  • Engage prospective customers using engineering knowledge and expertise

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics,
Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related field
  • Entry Level Position: 0-2 yrs. industry experience, Internship and Co-op experiences
preferred
  • Broad knowledge of engineering principles (e.g. fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and
structural mechanics)
  • Experience working with CFD/FEA packages required. ANSYS Workbench, COMSOL
Multiphysics, or MSC Adams or Nastran are preferred
  • Understanding of multibody dynamics and working knowledge of multibody dynamics
simulation software is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of aerodynamics, aerospace propulsion systems, or internal
combustion engines is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistics, data analytics, uncertainty quantification or
related topics is a plus
