General Summary

Performs duties under moderate supervision in a particular core competency or business function of the organization that aligns with the intern’s chosen field of study.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

  • Track software projects, software task assignments, track funding resources applied to software staffing resources.
  • Support configuration management of software items and related documentation.
  • Generate reports to keep management informed on project status, and/or resource status.
  • Supports Software Process Management duties in support of MSIC*
  • Assists with a wide range of duties in the field *
  • Assists with creation and analysis of routine projects, programs, policies and procedures *
  • Performs assigned intern projects and follows them to completion *
  • Supports more experienced personnel *

Required Skills

Required Experience
  • Must be currently enrolled with the University of Alabama Huntsville as a Junior or Senior level student pursuing a degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within software development life cycle.
  • US Citizenship required. Position will require applying for security clearance, to include a Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python and Java
  • Previous experience in the field or in a related area either from previous internships or other work experience
