POSITION TITLE: Jr. Electrical Engineer - Digital Products, Measuring and Inspection Solutions Business Unit

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in electrical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university plus 2-3 years of hands-on electrical and electronics engineering design and product development experience, OR Master’s degree (M.S.) in electrical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university plus 1-2 years of hands-on electrical and electronics engineering design and product development experience.

We are currently seeking a Jr. Electrical Engineer to support our Digital Products, Measuring and Inspection Solutions Business Unit in Chesapeake, VA. In this role, you will work with a diverse group of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers on system design, development, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of measuring and inspection solutions for railroad applications. You will use sensors such as LiDAR, Line Profile Lasers, Line Scan Cameras, IMUs (inertial Measurement Unit), Accelerometers, etc.; design single-board computers, power system; define electrical interfaces; and integrate multiple measuring and inspection systems into a solution. You will support the Technical Lead and Subject Matter Experts on R&D and Product Improvement projects as well as Commercial projects as directed.

This position involves but is not limited to the following.

Technical Skills:

· Knowledge of the theory of electrical engineering and electronics design

· Knowledge of electronics product development

· Knowledge of standards and best practices in electrical engineering design

· Understanding abstract technical and engineering concepts and transforming them into product requirements

· Strong knowledge of scientific and technical computing paradigms and experience with modeling and simulation

· Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends on components and products

· Proficiency in using MATLAB, PSpice, E-Plan, and other relevant electrical and electronics CAD software

· Knowledge in at least one of the following: C/C++/C#

· Knowledge of server operating systems such as Linux and Windows

· Proficiency in using Microsoft Outlook and in creating, editing, and formatting Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint slides at an advanced level

· Good communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation skills

· Outstanding attention to detail, follow-up, and multi-tasking skills

· Work with vendors to create design and installation specifications and requirements for electrical components

· Previous exposure to electrical engineering and electronics product design and development in and for railroad environment

· Exposure to multiple application software languages for example C#, .net, C++

· Working knowledge of Confluence, JIRA and Project Management best practices

· Multitasking and juggling multiple assignments and projects with accuracy

· Working knowledge of electrical engineering and electronics design
