  • Interns are assigned to one of the below tracks based on team needs and professional interests
Our teams:
  • Insights and Strategy (Analytics and Planning):
We were built to put insight, data and analytics at the center of everything we do, ensuring that our strategies, creative concepts and marketing tactics are informed by truth. On this team, you will help clients understand their audience’s behaviors, motivations and beliefs, then develop compelling and creative strategies to reach them. You will serve as a passionate advocate for the audience and articulate how human behaviors, cultural context and the policy environment impact our work. If you're curious, rigorous, and creative and want to be part of shaping the actions of major brands, Insights & Strategy is for you.
  • Creative (Design, Branding Content Creation, Animation/Motion Graphics, Copywriting, and Multi-Media):
Edelman DC’s Creative team sits at the heart of the office. We are copywriters, art directors, designers, and animators bringing big ideas to life across multiple channels. Working in lockstep with the Insights + Strategy department, we delve into human behaviors, motivations and beliefs to craft stories for our clients that will change hearts and minds and earn trust. Our job is to inject creativity into everything we touch—fully integrated campaigns, digital and social content, experiential activations and even business actions. We strive every day to make our target audiences think, laugh, cry, share, learn and get involved. No two days are the same in Creative, and as an intern here, you will get to work with people across every pillar within the office and help solve complex problems using the most powerful skill in business—creativity.
  • Social (Social Content Creation, Social Strategy and Community Management):
Our social team consists of strategists who share a healthy obsession with all things social. Our approach helps brands earn trust, relevance, and attention in a rapidly changing world. Our ideas are earned-centric, which means they connect directly to a societal nerve, a conversation that media and influentials alike are interested in joining and participating in. We do this by telling a story that answers “So what? Why should I care?” for the audience we want to reach. Our ideas are also social by design, which means they are set to spark shareable behavior from the start. We develop content that evokes people’s interest— triggering participation in the conversation and making them feel “in the know.” The social team is ideal for interns who love the excitement, creativity, and ever-changing landscape of social media.
  • Editorial and Media Strategies (Earned Media, Storytelling, Media Pitching, and Newsroom):
Edelman DC’s Editorial & Media Strategies team comprises the firm’s earned-centric storytelling experts. We know, as former journalists and media specialists, that in today’s fragmented media landscape, we must approach client work like reporters — creating quality content centered around story — to get media attention. We are looking for two interns to join our team: an earned media candidate and an editorial candidate. The ideal earned media candidate is a storyteller and media relations specialist that can help craft media materials and pitches to inspire earned coverage primarily through earned media. She/he is a consumer of the news and a media junkie who can quickly identify newsworthy story angles and craft a targeted pitch, finding the right reporter for their story at the right time. The ideal editorial candidate is a storyteller and a writer that can help craft materials to inspire earned coverage on all platforms. She/he is a news consumer who can quickly spot a story, write a byline, craft a targeted pitch, or pen an Op-Ed or LTE, Facebook post or Tweet, successfully inserting clients into the greater media conversation.
  • Performance Marketing (Paid Media):
Have you ever wondered how something goes viral? Or why you see Instagram ads for a website you just visited? The Paid Media and Performance Marketing intern is looking for a critical thinker with an interest in data analysis and creative problem solving. Experience managing paid media buys is not required. In this role, you will support the planning and management of paid media campaign by conducting audience research, managing vendor communication (e.g. Spotify, Centro, The Washington Post, etc.), maintaining campaign timelines and coordinating creative delivery. On a daily, weekly and monthly basis, you will compile reports detailing the performance of paid campaigns using in-platform ad dashboards, Excel and Improvado, a reporting automation tool. On an ongoing basis, you will attend paid media vendor meetings with other team members and stay up to date with the always changing paid media landscape.
