WebMD is seeking an SEO Intern in the WebMD division to join its summer internship program. Our internship program allows students the opportunity to obtain valuable, applicable work experience in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual who is extraordinarily detail-oriented. In this multifaceted internship role, you will support our Audience Development team in implementing, auditing and reporting on the success of SEO projects and optimizations. The SEO Intern role requires rudimentary project management skills and the ability to work with others across the organization including Product & Project Managers, Editorial, and Developers.


  • Work closely with the Audience Development team to optimize assets on
  • Perform keyword research for content improvements and additions
  • Perform SEO audits on pages and sections of our sites to identify missing SEO best practices
  • Use Google Search Console to identify trends in performance, indexation, errors, and response codes
  • Analyze and monitor the overall site and specific page performance on Google
  • Report on traffic progress and trends using Omniture (Adobe Analytics)
  • Analyze internal links to determine their value and create link building strategies that follow SEO best practices
  • Assist with content creation plans to support high-priority topics
  • Collect and analyze information on competitor strategies

Required (Must be signified on resume for consideration):

  • Minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Enrolled in an Undergrad or Grad program; returning for the Fall 2020 semester.
  • Majoring in business, marketing, communications or information technology
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience or coursework in SEO

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal team skills
  • Insatiably curious about SEO trends and techniques
  • Comfortable pulling reports including assigning segments in Omniture
  • Solid understanding of and history working with content management systems
  • Experience using standard SEO tools
  • Knowledge of Google Search Console including extracting and analyzing data
  • Solid understanding of Search Engine algorithms
  • Comfortable pulling reports including assigning segments in Omniture
  • Familiar with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Database experience a plus
  • Experience with Tableau a plus
