HUMAN RESOURCES INTERN PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The individual will partner with the Human Resources Department to assist with several HR-related projects including Recruiting, HR Information Management Systems, Talent Development and also some exposure to Benefits, Compensation, and Wellness initiatives. The Intern will learn to understand the various HR functions which will result in a successful introduction into a career in HR.

This position will be a full-time (40 hours a week) commitment for summer 2020.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
While this internship is largely about supporting the Human Resources Department, equally important is the expectation for the selected candidate to gain exposure and experience in an opportunity rich industry. In doing this, the selected candidate will be learning this industry from a unique position which will require contact with various parts of the Company. This internship also comes with the following advantages:

HUMAN RESOURCES INTERN ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate on project teams for company-driven initiatives requiring an HR perspective.
  • Assist the Human Resources Department in the day-to-day operation
  • Processes paperwork related to the HR function as well as help maintain electronic file system.
  • Post, update and remove job postings.
  • Assist with and support staff development events, such as trainings, lunch n’ learns, etc.
  • Assist in pre-employment and onboarding processes.
  • Manage, with the help of Supervisor, HR Business Partner, several companywide projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Write effectively and understand verbal and written communications.
  • Promote the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high-level of performance.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.

HUMAN RESOURCES INTERN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Student actively enrolled in an approved Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources or related program with expected graduation date of December 2020, May 2021, December 2021 or May 2022.

EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers (for travel).

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Completed at least one Human Resources college course.
  • Ability to take on additional tasks and shift priorities on short notice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to complete work assignments with moderate supervision in an acceptable timeframe.
  • Aptitude and interest in learning and leveraging new programs to accomplish tasks.
  • Must be able to work with a team.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This is a temporary full-time position.
  • Essentially indoors but must be able to work outdoors in project & maintenance activities.
  • Travel from 5-10% of time to field sites and offices with occasional overnight stays.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

  • None.
