Civil Engineering Internship

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Engineer Intern in Oakland, CA. The individual will work in the AECOM Water Business unit on various water/wastewater projects including but not limited to dams and dam infrastructure, municipal water/wastewater treatment design, hydraulic systems, pumps and pipe design, cost estimate, project schedule, planning and feasibility. The individual will have be mentored by staff engineers on various projects to gain experience in technical engineering principles and business operations creating a foundation of knowledge necessary for future career success.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Provides basic support in the areas of project controls, scheduling, scheduling analysis, earned value management, and construction inspection activities in support of projects.

+ Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and engineering installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining project documentation.

+ General understanding of procedures, company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.

+ Performs routine tasks while working under close supervision

Minimum Requirements

+ Currently in pursuit of Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering

+ Educational emphasis on hydraulic systems, water treatment, wastewater treatment, or similar fields

+ Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

+ Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

+ Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)

+ Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (CAD, GIS, hydraulic analysis, process modeling)

+ Technical experience related to water/wastewater process engineering or hydraulic analysis

+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
