Customer Support Internship

Job Description: Nature & Scope Through hands-on relevant work experience, the internship program is designed to allow a student or graduate the ability to learn the business of Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. Interns will receive professional coaching and participate in team building exercises. Weekly leadership forums are required where the intern will participate in open discussion regarding the business of Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. The IT intern reports to the End User Technologies supervisor. While this position does not have direct reports there may be times when this position is responsible for leading a project team or directing the work of other staff. The IT intern will receive guidance from the End User Technologies supervisor but is expected to work independently and with minimal guidance. Being able to take the initiative and reach out to the various departments and individuals is imperative Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Excellent technical writing, editing, and grammatical skills Strong research, planning, and organizational skills Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Graphic Design (Visio or related software) and the ability to learn Microsoft SharePoint Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to self-motivate, work independently as well as in a group to effectively meet deadlines Ability to communicate in a clear manner, both orally and in writing Ability to effectively facilitate a workgroup Ability to interview individuals as subject matter experts Ability to explain technical ideas in simple language and ensure technical verbiage is easy to understand Ability to communicate with technical resources to collect information for documentation Relate to people in a positive manner and promote a positive influence with employees Ability to remain calm while in stressful conversation, and handle confrontational situations in an acceptable manner as to reach fact-based objective conclusions Willingness to take initiative Minimum Job Requirements Intern I 1. Sophomore year in college. 2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 3. Two letters of recommendation. (At least one from the attending school) 4. A minimum of 6.0 hours in one of the requested disciplines. 5. Intern must live in the Central Arkansas Area during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.) Intern II 1. Junior year in college. 2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 3. Two letters of recommendation. (At least one from the attending school) 4. A minimum of 12.0 hours in one of the requested disciplines. 5. Intern must live in the Central Arkansas Area during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.) Intern III 1. Senior year in college. 2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 3. Two letters of recommendation. (At least one from the attending school) 4. A minimum of 18.0 hours in one of the requested disciplines. 5. Intern must live in the Central Arkansas Area during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.) Intern IV 1. Bachelor’s degree in requested discipline or a related degree if applicable 2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 3. Two letters of recommendation. (at least one from the attending school) 4. Intern must live in the Central Arkansas Area during the internship program (Relocation expense will not be paid.) Principal Activities or Accountabilities (Essential Functions of Job) 1. Write, edit, and publish comprehensive documentation in an accurate and timely manner. 2. Design appropriate formats for documentation that are standardized, easy to read, reference, and use. 3. Work with IT staff to develop and maintain documentation for projects. 4. Facilitate workgroups, interview individuals one-on-one, and work with internal staff to obtain content information. Work with management and IT teams to identify and prioritize documentation projects. Build processes for ensuring all documentation is kept current. Manage a document repository Security Requirements This position is identified as level three (3). This position must ensure the security and confidentiality of records and information to prevent substantial harm, embarrassment, inconvenience, or unfairness to any individual on whom information is maintained. The integrity of information must be maintained as outlined in the company Administrative Manual.
