Summer Intern: External Affairs

American Enterprise Institute

Internship

Overview:[
AEI’s External Affairs department helps AEI scholars connect their research with audiences both inside and outside the DC Beltway. Interns must have a startup mentality and an ability to identify new ways to add value across the organization. The most successful interns will have interest in and be familiar with the work of AEI scholars, exhibit strong writing skills, and have experience with communications, government affairs, event planning, or public relations. Duties will include facilitating conferences and events for AEI contacts across the country, writing weekly communications for core AEI constituents, identifying opportunities to develop new partnerships, executing outreach to national constituents, completing data-entry tasks, and assisting with other short- and long-term projects.

Intern Scholarship Program
In the summer of 2020, AEI will offer up to six intern candidates a $1,000 monthly living stipend as part of a need-based scholarship program. Our hope is to allow students who would not be able to do so without financial assistance to reap the academic, professional, and personal benefits of interning at AEI. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until Friday, April 3. To apply for the scholarship, please click here.

About AEI Internships
AEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation’s leading think tanks. Competitive candidates for these internships will generally possess a 3.4 GPA from a top ranking college or university.

AEI internships last a minimum of 10 weeks and interns are required to work 20-40 hours per week. AEI internships are unpaid; however, interns receive complimentary breakfast and lunch each day and a monthly transportation stipend to assist with commuting costs.
