NETGEAR is offering the opportunity to join us on an internship. Interns at NETGEAR will work on Wireless Routers, Mesh Wi-Fi Systems, Cable Modems, iOS and Android apps for networking products and Cable headend equipment.

Position Summary:

As a member of the CHP Wireline Engineering team, you will be responsible for the quality of Cable/DSL/Router products with primary emphasis on Cable Modem, Cable Gateway Products and Mesh WiFi systems. These products will incorporate one or several of the following technologies: DOCSIS, PacketCable, DNS/DHCP, IP, SIP, MGCP, DSL, PPPoX, 802.11 Wireless, Ethernet, VPN, Firewalls. This is a technical internship position designed to provide qualified students an opportunity to learn valuable knowledge in a hands-on manner, working with test engineers to learn and participate in a variety of processes. This project involves testing of NETGEAR products and Mobile apps.

Responsibilities:

  • Testing Cable Products and Mesh-WIFI products
  • Reproducing customer and ISP field issues
  • Setting up test beds for customer and ISP scenarios
  • Working with field Beta testers for NPI launches
  • Review and Tracking Product ratings across multiple channels
  • JIRA/CONFLUENCE updates for Cable/X-sell Team
  • Reproduce critical security issues reported by CERT/CVE
  • Provide input to Technical support and documentation team
  • Support escalations from systems engineering team
  • Work with chipset suppliers to resolve SDK and chipset SW bugs
  • Working with other testers, developers, or possibly field engineers to qualify and reproduce a problem
  • Accurately identifying, documenting and driving resolution of product defects
  • Writing test cases, test concepts and filing defect reports

Qualifications:

  • Ongoing work toward a Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer/electrical engineering or related field or recent graduate.
  • Knowledge of how home networking and IOT products work
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Understanding of IP networking basics: L2, L3, L4, L7
  • Familiarity with iOS and android app for networking and IOT devices
  • Knowledge of underlying web technologies including HTTP and HTML
  • Knowledge of networking products such as routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, planning and organization skills
