Responsibilities

This is an excellent opportunity for a paid summer internship with Zondervan Books, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing. Essential Responsibilities: The marketing and editorial intern will gain a broad exposure to the publishing process as well as be responsible for assisting in various editorial, marketing and publicity functions for Zondervan Books.

The intern will:
  • Attend team meetings, including but not limited to Acquisitions, Staff, Pub Boards, Marketing, and Sales Conference
  • Help to implement promotional campaigns for fall 2020 releases
  • Learn to manage Librarian and Reviewer requests through NetGalley
  • Help manage the creation & distribution of ARCs (advance readers copy) to reviewers, media, authors, and sales
  • Proof marketing collateral pieces including press releases, ads, and other copy
  • Contribute to tracking publicity execution with external agencies and ROI
  • Research marketing trends
  • Assist with long-term data cleanup projects (primarily related to AMAZON)
  • Acquisition research including social media scouting
  • Assist with creation of executive summaries, PD and PPT creation help
  • Perform final proofing checks before book files are sent to printer
  • Proposal review
  • Keyword research
  • Some clerical work (e.g. CIP data application, photocopying, filing, email, etc)

Qualifications

Required Status: Fall 2020 Junior, Senior or Graduate Student

Skills Required:
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Basic knowledge of social media and digital marketing and its benefits for marketing purposes
  • Research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with good use of tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent written communication skills with strong knowledge of English grammar and usage
  • Team player
