Responsibilities
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Decision Support Analyst for an internship opportunity. This position will be located in Chantilly, VA.

The qualified candidate will become part of the The Performance Modeling and Analysis Department (PMAD). PMAD focuses on the modeling, analysis, and optimization of orbits, satellite access, and system performance at all levels for space architectures. We develop sensor models and system visualizations; perform system and architecture performance assessments; and perform orbital coverage, geolocation, and communications analyses. We develop and maintain special-purpose software to support our analyses. PMAD software developers apply object-oriented and parallel processing techniques to our software to leverage the corporation’s high-performance computing resources.

Key Functions
  • Apply evolutionary computing and multi-criterion decision making techniques to tradespace analysis.
  • Assess overall performance of space systems.
  • Work with department staff as part of project teams.
  • Tasking will vary during internship and may include multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Apply in-house or custom-developed analysis tools as necessary.
  • Develop new analysis tools and techniques as necessary
  • Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners.
  • Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.
  • Training and mentorship will be provided.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree completed and currently enrolled at an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Master's/PhD
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
  • US Citizenship required
  • Technically adept in the development and use of computer tools
  • Ability to take direction and work independently
  • Dependability and good interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance
  • Familiarity with astrodynamics and related mathematics.
  • Demonstrated skills in doumentation and presentation of results
