Under the direction of the Senior Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Education, OGE partners with deans, academic units, Graduate Student Government and University governance on recruitment and retention, fellowships and financial aid, academic assessment, and program review to continually improve the quality of graduate education at DU.
In consultation with the Provost and Graduate Council, OGE is responsible for the authorship and oversight of graduate policy, upholding standards with fairness and respect to all. The Associate Provost for Research and Graduate Education seeks a dynamic and innovative professional to fill the position of Assistant Provost of Admissions and Graduate Education in the Office of Graduate Education. Reporting to the Associate Provost, the successful candidate will, in collaboration with the Graduate Enrollment Advisory Council (committee chaired by the Assistant Provost but involves enrollment staff from each academic division as well as undergraduate admissions), provide leadership in the development, management and execution of enrollment goals.
The Assistant Provost will coordinate recruiting efforts for graduate, graduate international, and graduate online students when there are efficiencies to be gained through a centralized effort. He/She will cultivate and support highly-targeted data-driven enrollment plans developed in or for divisions. Collaborating with deans and division level enrollment staff, the Assistant Provost and his/her staff will support annual and long-range enrollment goals and recruitment initiatives for each program with the end goal of meeting or exceeding net graduate tuition targets.
This role will oversee the Associate Director of Student Services and support all central academic requirements, policies and processes for graduate programs. Responsibilities include academic standing policies and procedures oversight, academic policy review and interpretation, curriculum support and management, program review support, staff management, and GTA English language proficiency assessment program management. Responsible for 8-12 full-time employees, 2-4 temporary staff members, and 5-6 student staff.
- Provide academic, curricular, policy, research, enrollment and administrative leadership on matters related to graduate (grad) education.
- Provide guidance and leadership in the formation and implementation of enrollment management strategies, policies, and practices to foster growth and maintain stability depending on the needs of the grad programs at the University (DU).
- Support curriculum review and alignment, ensure the effective dissemination of academic policy to students and faculty, and provide oversight related to academic standing policies and procedures.
- Collaborate, provide direction, and guidance to the ten grad academic units enrollment and student services teams.
- Support the successful implementation of all 2U programs and provide direction and guidance regarding policy interpretation, systems management, and the coordination of ensuring data integrity among platforms.
- Collaborate with Academic, Deans, Department Chairs, and Academic Services partners to establish and successfully achieve enrollment targets.
- Develop and implement successful strategies to enhance recruitment, application review processes, and yield initiatives.
Specific duties include:
- Functions related to operations, including the oversight of the Technolutions Slate grad admissions system and the management of the connections between Slate and Ellucian Banner.
- The application submission, completion, central initial-review and decision notification processes.
- As necessary, admissions and matriculation processes to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Advise and support the implementation of a strategic multichannel MARCOM strategy.
- Lead the effort on coordinating enrollment marketing efforts and initiatives with the 10 grad academic units.
- Help advise program direction from the perspective of enrollment, management, including the identification and tracking of key competitors, market trends, and the identification of new threats/opportunities.
- This will be accomplished in collaboration with grad units marketing teams and the central MARCOM office to ensure the development of compelling content for recruitment communications, website, print publications and advertising, and be provided at a central location when efficiencies or financial leveraging can be accomplished.
- Support the successful implementation and ongoing maintenance of DU's central marketing automation platform.
- Foster collaborative relationships with all faculty, program coordinators, college deans, administrators and off-campus stakeholders serving and served by the grad programs.
- Work to reduce barriers to enrollment by implementing forward thinking policies and processes to support successful student transition for in-state, out-of-state, international students, and diverse populations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor admissions policies and procedures consistent with current federal regulations that function efficiently and fairly from inquiry through enrollment.
- Develop, implement and provide leadership to train and support those responsible for implementing admissions within the individual units.
Staff and Management:
- Supervise OGE staff, including hiring, leadership, mentorship, direction, and identifying professional development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain an accurate data management system.
- Oversee/steward the statistical analysis of incoming classes.
- Facilitate the completion of surveys and reports.
- Manage multiple budget lines, oversee general office spending, and manage endowments, scholarships, or other restricted funds designated for DU-wide use in conjunction with the Associate Provost and Dir. of Business and Ops.
- Work with relevant departments to ensure the effective implementation of their new initiatives, realization of goals, and monitor work flow and to identify and implement potential improvements in systems/processes.

- Technical qualifications include knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel) and the ability to learn new software systems quickly.
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in large-group settings to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret enrollment management reports and publications as well as departmental procedures and policies.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Demonstrated experience in financial aid leveraging
- Strong skills in numerical and statistical analysis
- Proven record of budget management
- Must be able to independently assess opportunities and situations and provide reasonable solutions.
- Must be focused on problem resolution.
- Leadership ability to motivate and to reach objectives both independently and with the group.

- Bachelor's degree
- 7 years of related experience in higher education, including enrollment management and one or more of the following: admissions, operations, advising and student services
- Experienced people manager with strong project management skills and the ability to meet schedules and objectives
- Master's degree
- 10 years of related experience in higher education, including enrollment management and one or more of the following: admissions, operations, advising and student services
- Experience in a private higher education institution
- Experience in a GEM system with distributed or decentralized processes and procedures to meet the student where they are
- Prior experience with Slate and Ellucian Banner
8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday-Friday, extended hours occasionally required
