General Dynamics Mission Systems
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience is required. Agile experience preferred.
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an entry-level Software Engineer for our MAAS Team. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Entry-level Software Engineers conduct or participate in the research, design and development of systems software, software applications and/or tools for new programs and subprograms.
Responsibilities may include the following:
Participate in the full software life-cycle development using object oriented methodologies
Assist with design activities
Implement software in C/C++
Investigate and solve problem reports
Integrate and test software and systems
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of software engineering principles
Good written and verbal communications skills
Successful completion of coursework in C or C++
Basic knowledge of Linux
Ability to be a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success, meeting and exceeding personal and team commitments
Experience/Knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Proficient in C, C++, Java or an equivalent Object Oriented language
Knowledgeable in Python, Perl or other scripting language
Proficient in the use of debugging tools
Experience working in a Linux environment
Knowledgeable of the software development process
Experience in the use of software tools such as Integrated Development Environments like Visual Studio or Eclipse
Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
Coursework in data structures, operating systems, or networking
